DO NOT GIVE UP!

When my children were in their preschool age, I used to read stories for them every night. One of their favorite books was entitled “The Monster at the End of this Book” – a Sesame St. series published by Golden Books.

In this story, Grover the cookie monster is so afraid to go to the end of the book because the title says that there is a monster – at the last page. With all his might, Grover tried to beg the reader by saying “Please do not turn the page!”. He also used different tactics like - tying the page with a rope, nailing it with planks of wood and lasty building a brick wall so that the reader cannot turn the page.

But of course, since a book is meant to be read, the reader keeps turning the page until the end of the book to find out that the monster is actually Grover himself! He sighed with relief that it is not another monster.

This story is very similar to our lives as we turn the pages of our calendars each month, or each day for those old-style lunar calendars.

Before the CoVid-19 pandemic, I used to receive a lot of different calendars 2 months before the new year. This time, I got my 1st calendar in the middle of January. A lot has changed since the pandemic started and yet the days, months and years continue to “flip” the pages of our lives.

I myself was also somewhat anxious of what will be happening in the following months. It took me awhile to have my life-theme and goals for the new year.

In my uncertainties, the Lord gave me this verse – Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

In Luke 22:31-32, Jesus never gave up on Peter and he will never give up on you.

I knew I cannot stop the pages of my life, and I don’t want to leave it empty too, so I started once again to write my goals and is determined to reach them.

How about you? Have you written your goals?

Are there things that you want to do and achieve?

Are there people that you have been ministering to and want to see them grow?

Are you feeling empty and want to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ?

DO NOT GIVE UP!

Luke 22:31-32 New International Version

31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Galatians 6:9 New International Version

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
